Fired Bill Carmody: NIT matchup is set

NIT matchup is set

as just announced, Northwestern will play Wednesday at Tulsa. NU is in the NIT as a four five seed and will likely play at Auburn if they win. the game will be televised on ESPNU at 9pm ET.

let's hope someone offers Willie $100 to take down Tulsa's Captain Cane.

and yes, i know it's just the NIT, but considering there was no ESPNU to televise the selection show back in '99, at least we get to see Northwestern's name on TV in a bracket.

We're not a #4 seed. You'd think you could get that right.

We’re #82-#85. Woooo-hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

After 9 long years of utter failure, we have cracked the top 97 teams, I knew that carmody signing would pay off (and yes, that is sarcasm).

A couple of interesting points:

1. I have maintained that Craig Moore is our most important player because his shooting of three pointers 5 feet behind the line is the only thing that bails out sundial bill’s gimmick offense. While my assertion has been from simply watching this abortion of an offensive system, some guy named Lindsey Willhite actually did the work and shows that in our 17 wins, Moore shoots 49% from 3 and in our 13 losses, Moore shoots 31% from 3 (this is the article http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1608). Like I said, since carmody admitted his gimmick doesn’t work without a big man who can shoot 15-18 footers, and since we have never had that type of player, we rely on a three-point shooter to bail us out when our kryptonite shot clock is about to go off. It’s like a second grader could have installed our offensive system, and not even a second grader in a gifted class.

2. Tulsa might suck worse than us. I don’t think they have one good win all year. I believe the only common opponent is Illinois and Tulsa lost by 4 to them while we bent over and let Illinois have their way with us like the protagonist in an asshunter video in the final 3 minutes of our last meeting. In fact, it was possibly the worst 3 minutes in the history of NU basketball which is like calling something the worst kick of Brian Huffman’s career.

This is the part I love though, Tulsa’s leading scorer is a named Jerome Jordan and he is 7 feet tall and 245 pounds. A pretty big dude, averaging 14 and 9. Why I love this is that we play that fucking douchey 1-3-1 zone defense with wee little Michael Thompson as the 1 on the baseline. This is going to be such a clusterfuck of a bad match-up that I am already pissed at carmody. Juice Thompson is probably the size of Jerome Jordan’s johnson and he is supposed to bother him down low????? Really?? He might get fucking whiplash from Jordan’s nuts hitting him in the head when Jordan turns to dunk on him. I hope child protective services is nearby to see this and hopefully step in. But I am sure sundial bill will figure this out, in another 9 years that is.

Fuck Carmody

AC, you'll love this as further proof of Craig Robinson's magic. there are 129 teams participating in postseason play. 127 of those teams don't have a losing record. one that does is Oregon State. OSU finished 13-17 and not only was selected to play in the CBI, but is HOSTING at least one game. i doubt any Carmody-led team would have the appeal to pull that off.

Wow. I've never even heard of the fucking CBI. thanks for that. I bet they created it just for Craig Robinson, the rightful heir to the NU basketball throne.

And Jim Phillips, I know you are reading this, so let this be a formal declaration of me offering up my services to help in the new head coach search and help with interviews. AC will single-handedly turn this program around if that is what it takes. We are better than car-no-win-dy, better than gimmicks, better than 9th out of 11 big ten teams when one is on program killing probation.

Change and hope could be on their way, and I am willing to facilitate that change.

Fuck Carmody

there are other common opponents, like texas-a&m-corpus christi, and smu. tulsa does have one good win, over the real texas a&m.

because of the big guy inside you'll probably see more of the 2-3 matchup zone that we play about 50% of the time.

also, tulsa has the #1 3pt defense in the country. this is not good.

Honestly I'm done watching or having anything to do with this program. As exciting as the wins over MSU & Minn were, the failures in the end of game situations further illustrated how inept he is as a situational coach. He needs to go.
