a lot of NU hoops coverage by the worldwide leader this week. first Pat Forde listed Northwestern at #5 on his list of the last decade's most underachieving programs. then i decided to discuss this with one of my favorite analysts...
Sean, Providence RI: Pat Forde listed Northwestern as one of his underachieving teams of the last 10 years. What are your thoughts on the job Bill Carmody has done there, and will that program ever be able to compete?
Doug Gottlieb: (4:46 PM ET ) Carmody is a great guy who is not a great recruiter. Good coach. I agree with Pat. to not make the tourney EVER! Vandy competes, Stanford has a made a FF and NWestern has NEVER made the dance. It is not all Carmody's fault...no facilities, no exceptions with admits, no tradition (other than losing) and a point shaving scandal....
