Fired Bill Carmody: Well that sucked

Well that sucked

i admit it, the 'cats sucked me in that time. when they countered with a couple threes midway through the second half in response to Minnesota's run, i thought they had a win in them. but down the stretch their familiar faults re-surfaced: no rebounding, no playmakers on offense, no idea what to do in a one-possession, need-to-score situation.

the bad news is that the entire roster returns for next season. yes, they'll be a year older, but they won't be a year taller or a year faster.

the cats were clueless against the full court press. at least 3 or 4 times, especially in the last ten minutes of the game, we couldn't get the ball over the half court line and it resulted in turnovers. one of those times it didn't even look like michael thompson was aware that there is a time limit to get the ball over the half court line. the other times it looked like NU had never practiced a full court press situation once. ever.

this is evidence of terrible, scandalous coaching. have we considered calling for bill carmody to be fired? wait, what's this blog called? damn.

I wonder how often NU hoops comes up in the Big10 Network/Comcast negotiations. Comcast to Big10: "Can you sit there with a straight face and tell us that Northwestern basketball should regularly appear in our basic cable package?"

There's hope that we'll get a new coach after the regime change in Evanston:

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Northwestern University President Henry S. Bienen, who has led the University to increased academic prominence, financial strength and athletic success, plans to retire from his position effective Aug. 31, 2009, announced Patrick G. Ryan, chair of the University’s board of trustees.

We were all over that almost two weeks ago. Come on! I know you have "children to raise" and "lawyering to do" but get with the program!

If Bill C. had any self respect he would find another job and resign.

I have this bad feeling that nothing will happen. I guess Bienen doesn't care that his B-ball legacy is going to be that he allowed the 2 programs to go down to ruins. The women were competitive at one point in time. We are the worst division 1 B-ball program. At least Ore State has the excuse that it is in Corvallis in the middle of nowhere. Plus, they have been to the tournament in the past.
