Northwestern single-handedly helping Ed DeChellis keep his job

i have to be honest: i completely forgot about Sunday's game. between the upsets on Saturday, looking ahead to see how Purdue would play without Hummel, and at least cursory interest in the hockey game, i just plain forgot. i was on the treadmill on Sunday afternoon when i looked up at the tv to see that Northwestern had given up 49 points in the first half. only Juice was in double figures, and a lot of bench guys got minutes. i wonder if BC is trying to get a better sense of exactly what he has to work with for next season.

[editor's note] as i read through various recaps of yesterday's game, i came across several discouraging quotes from BC. he makes it sound as though the end of season slide is completely out of his control...

"We haven't been a good road team all year, and the last three weeks our defense has really been spotty at best-we just couldn't stop them. It didn't matter the personnel that was in there (or) whatever we were trying to do: man, matchup, 1-3-1."

"Our only real inside threat is Johnny right now, especially on the road. It just causes problems for you."

"We're not getting anything inside and I don't know what to do about it."

At least the Wildcats should be able to handle Chicago State (RPI ranking 346 out of 347) on Wednesday. Then again, they only defeated Texas-Pan American (RPI ranking 340) by seven points, so who knows?

If only our esteemed Coach Bwent hadn't left this obscure website, he could probably explain to us how the guru of the princeton no-offense and one of the greatest coaching minds produced in this century could have once again bent over for some guy named Ed DeChellis ("DeChellis" of course french for "of the shitty coach") to have his way with him like he were auditioning to be the heroine in a Buttman movie. But hey, Penn State was on a season long 0 game winning streak so we got them just as they were hot. Actually, PSU has been playing well of late, winning 3 of their last 4, largely because they got to square off against the great logician Bill Car-No-Win-dy twice in that four game span.

There really isn't much more to be said, I just hope the NIT selection committee wasn't watching that abortion of a game NU played where Carshitty's gimmick defense allowed 49 1st half points to a team whose offense is bad they couldn't even score in a whore house with $100 bills strapped to their pick and rolls. I have a great new gimmick for Carshitty's defense: STOP THE OTHER TEAM FROM FUCKING SCORING. I know it is a bit technical, but our guys are smart guys, so they should be able to figure it out.

10 long fucking years and one NIT loss to show for it. But I'm not a coach so what do I know?

Fuck Carmody.

Over at LTP, Dave Revsine says that all Carmody needs to do is watch some tape in the offseason and the defense will be fixed next season.

Yeah, I know, me too.
