Fired Bill Carmody: Juice's career not finished yet

Juice's career not finished yet

Northwestern will host UW Milwaukee on Wednesday night. i'm not entirely sure how that happened, but i'll take it. let's hope Wildcat fans are not outnumbered in our own building. and thank God NU was invited to the NIT, because earlier the school had announced that it was not interested in the CBI.

i generally agree with Loretta8's comments on twitter and SoP that NU is in no position to turn down any chance at postseason basketball. Jim Phillips' competitiveness is well-documented, so i guess i understand how he would look at the CBI as a slap in the face. i also understand there are financial obligations of playing in the CBI, at least at home. but i would look at it as an opportunity to grow the program and take advantage of extra practice time for the returning roster. the cynical side of me thinks that perhaps Jim didn't want to give BC credit for a "third consecutive postseason appearance." but all of that is irrelevant now - call the banner company to get a third NIT in the rafters!

in other news, sadly i'll miss the first weekend of the tournament this year due to some (wife's) family obligations in the Dominican Republic. on the plus side, this is the second consecutive year a NU blogger planned a trip to the Caribbean in March with absolutely no chance of missing the Wildcats' first tourney appearance.

and finally, how about some dap for Ed DeChellis. for the last few years he has been on more "hot seat" lists than Carmody. the support that PSU hoops team doesn't get from the university is ridiculous. and although the Bryce Jordan Center is newer than Welsh-Ryan, that doesn't mean it's much better. and yet, two years ago DeChellis got an NIT title, and obviously this weekend he did what BC has never been able to do: string together enough wins at the end of the season to get the committee's attention. that plus Ed's absolute ownership of NU makes Bill Carmody look even worse.

I apologize for the rant in advance...

First, I would like to say thanks for your posts and your site.

Today is always the saddest day of my sports year because I know we have no hope of making an appearance or even having our school mentioned unless they are showing some teams highlights against us.

It's sad that as a grad, I have to root against us just so we can get a change. Our AD Mr. Phillips has to see that our league is only getting better and this was supposed to be our best team ever and we still finished 8th.

I do not see any light at the end of the tunnel. GT fired Paul Hewittt and he led them to 5 NCAA appearances in 11 years. I just do not see how a coach keeps his job when 9 out of 11 conference seasons end with double digit losses.

It's insane. I don't wear anything purple until fall. I'm sick of the excuses. Be safe in the DR!! Thanks again

as i re-read my post, i realize that "wife's family obligations" sound much more important than reality. nope, just a bunch of white people drinking in the sand at a wedding.

11 more years!!! 11 more years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woooooooooooooooofuckinghooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This assclown Bill Car-no-win-dy just got NU their first home NIT game since Dan Kreft was in diapers (not because Kreft was young or anything in 1994 or whenever, but because AC hears he suffered from diaper paraphilia). Sure it's NU's supposed best team ever and sure it was the easiest schedule in the Big Ten as NU only had to play the top two fucking teams once (though to be fair, since we didn't get to play ourselves, that does make the schedule harder), but come on, this is a HOME GAME IN THE NIT. Shit, if you can't get excited about that, then well, then you must have reasonable fucking expectations for how to judge success after 11 long years.

So bring on the fucking Golden Showers of UW-Bukkake (or whatever the fuck they are called) because Carshitty is about to break through to the second round of the NIT and this is exactly for what he was hired to do 11 fucking years ago. And yes that was sarcasm.

At this point, AC would rather have Chet Haze or the French Guy form EV1 coach NU next year, but AC guesses success is judged by small steps, decades at a time. 8th place in the Big Ten? You're missing the big picture (unfortunately, this is the big picture, and notice the NU purple on that lady as she unwinds after Carshitty's latest in-game anti-strategy where he tries to win at the end of the game by instructing his players not shoot and hope the refs just decide to deduct points from the other team. It is a difficult strategy to pull off, but if it were to work, it would be jizztastic.).

Anyway, in the immortal words of NU's greatst poet, Mr. Chet Haze himself, "Adios MotherFuckers."

Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Carmody.

Mr. Loretta,

If you don't think that picture is a perfect microcosm of the Carshitty Error at NU, then AC doesn't know what to tell you.

Don't shoot the messenger here, Car-no-win-dy did that to that chick. You can see she was all decked out in her NU purple but became nauseated after watching the gimmickry of the great logician Bill Carshitty who never saw a bad strategy he couldn't employ.

Fuck Carmody.

Yeah, I too missed our big opening win over UWM and our historic second round victory over BC because I was on a tiny Mexican island. Those games were so big that the sports bar across the street from the beach couldn't (or wouldn't be bothered to) find a television feed.

I did get to watch Purdue play like special ed campers against Vigrinia Commonwealth (I was actually asked by some onlookers multiple times- "Who is VCU?"). I don't know which program should be more embarassed- the Cats for celebrating like its 1999 for winning an NIT second round game for the first time ever, or Purdue for going ass-skyward against an IM team.
